If you walk around certain parts of Nyíregyháza, you will
admire shady parks and groves that are beautiful, well-kept,
and also modern and exciting - such as the central parks or
Lake Bujtos and the surrounding City Park (“Városliget”).
In addition to the many public sculptures and works of
art, fountains and imposing monumental buildings make
Hungary’s 7th largest city friendly and welcoming. Th e
local government and the companies and enterprises op-
erating here place great emphasis on making their environ-
ment and operation “greener and greener”.
At the initiative of Mayor Dr. Ferenc Kovács, the county
seat will be even more beautiful and healthy by the plant-
ing of new rows of trees each spring and autumn. A large
number of companies, businesses, institutions, and non-
governmental organizations have joined the initiative. In
Nyíregyháza, it is a long tradition that the young families
plant trees in honour of their newborn child in the New
Life Tree Grove maintained by the local government.
Similar to the saplings that take root, the children born in
Nyíregyháza will become attached to their home town.
