Cycling may be just as great fun for adults as it is for children.
Although Nyíregyháza and its surroundings do not have any
mountains or hills, the bike paths built in the town and the
region are excellent for shorter or longer trips.
Those who would like to choose an alternative way to visit the
attractions can also explore the sights of Nyíregyháza on the
bike paths in the city. On the shorter, 16-kilometre trip, we can
see the sights of the city centre and Sóstógyógyfürdő.
Those who would like to try slightly more diffi cult terrain
should choose the trip around the ‘bush farmsteads’ surround-
ing the city, which is approx. 30 kilometres in length. Some
bush farmsteads can only be reached on dirt roads, which may
present a bit of a challenge for the enterprising riders, although
we can mainly ride our cycles on paved roads. Anyway, it is a
lasting experience to get to know the bush farmsteads, a pro-
tected structure of the town, connected to the Slovak-speaking
Lutheran settlers, the Tirpaks.
Those who prefer longer trips have the opportunity to ride their
bikes all the way to Tokaj, or roam the landscapes of Nyírség
and Rétköz, in the embrace of exciting heritage sites and at-
tractions.
