National
Memorial
Where history
comes to life
Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park
The Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park is a national
memorial site of great importance in the history of the
Hungarians. Its main attraction is the monumental Feszty
Panorama, which depicts the Hungarian conquest. Visi-
tors will enjoy the exhibitions in the Rotunda, as well as the
3D projections and temporary exhibitions in the Visitor
Centre. The Open-Air Ethnographic Collection, the Szeri
Medicinal Plant House, and the Nomad Park are providing
an authentic experience, while the horse shows evoke the
nomadic style of warfare. The Memorial Park awaits visi-
tors with rich programmes and traditional events.
Easter in Szeri
The open-air museum in Ópusztaszer comes to life on
Spring Awakening Sunday and Water-Sprinkling Monday.
Brides and grooms dressed in period costumes revive the
festive customs. Food blessing, egg painting, traditional
water sprinkling, and music await visitors.
Pentecost celebration
Pentecost is one of the most important Christian holidays,
which they are celebrating with traditional programmes
in Ópusztaszer. The folk customs of the Southern Great
Plain come to life in the open-air museum, and they
welcome visitors with playful competitions and interac-
tive programmes. The highlight of the celebration is the
spectacular Pentecost King Election, where young men
on horseback compete for the title.
