SIGHTSEEING

Debrecen is a modern, vibrant, and youthful city, which
is full of life. Concerts and cafés, cosy terraces, bars and
clubs guarantee pleasant afternoons and nights. When
the night falls, Piac Street, Csapó Street, and Hal köz (Fish
Close) are lit with many street lights, and young people and
those who want to have a good time fi ll the city-centre. The
more than 150-year-old Csokonai National Theatre awaits
the theatre-loving audience with serious and entertaining
plays and musicals from September to June. The concerts
of the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra of Debrecen and the
Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen invite us on a
journey into the world of classical music. Of the many con-
cert venues, one of the most impressive is the Reformed
Great Church with its excellent acoustics, where organ and
Advent concerts are held regularly. Fans of modern music
can visit the concerts of domestic and foreign bands and
performers at cultural events, and in pubs and clubs of dif-
ferent styles throughout the year.
