Lake Deseda
Outdoor activities
The 8 km long Deseda Lake, created by damming the De-
seda Stream, is an excellent place for leisure activities. It
has a reputation for being perfect for fishing, one can even
fish with boilies, and there are regular fi shing competitions
here. Hiking trails, rest areas, and bridges were built to
guarantee that the lake can be walked and cycled around.
A lookout tower on the west side offers a panoramic view
of the water surface. There are additional options to spend
our leisure time in the arboretum, the surrounding park
forest, which is a true adventure forest, on the peninsula
north of the former Road No. 67. The new bridge to the
peninsula was completed in 2023. In the István Fekete
Visitor Centre on the eastern shore of the Lake Deseda,
opened in 2014, we can visit an interactive exhibition
showing the lake’s wildlife, which includes a freshwater
aquarium and a life-size model of an oak tree and its com-
munity. The complex also offers stations for observing the
wildlife of the reeds, a playground, and a bicycle and boat
rental service. The Deseda boat service departs from here.
Kayaks, canoes, and dragon boats can be rented in the boat
house approx. 800 metres to the north of the visitor centre.
On the shore of the lake, the visitors of the water route can
moor at five spots and gain nature-related knowledge in a
playful manner. They can also charge their mobile phones
using the solar panels at the rest areas. The lake hosts the
Deseda Ultramarathon, where the runners compete indi-
vidually and in teams in distances ranging from one-third
to fi ve marathons.
