Lake Deseda


                                                              Outdoor activities







                                                              The 8 km long Deseda Lake, created by damming the De-
                                                              seda Stream, is an excellent place for leisure activities. It

                                                              has a reputation for being perfect for fishing, one can even
                                                              fish with boilies, and there are regular fi shing competitions

                                                              here. Hiking trails, rest areas, and bridges were built to
                                                              guarantee that the lake can be walked and cycled around.
                                                              A lookout tower on the west side offers a panoramic view


                                                              of the water surface. There are additional options to spend
                                                              our leisure time in the arboretum, the surrounding park
                                                              forest, which is a true adventure forest, on the peninsula

                                                              north of the former Road No. 67. The new bridge to the
                                                              peninsula was completed in 2023. In the István Fekete
                                                              Visitor Centre on the eastern shore of the Lake Deseda,
                                                              opened in 2014, we can visit an interactive exhibition
                                                              showing the lake’s wildlife, which includes a freshwater
                                                              aquarium and a life-size model of an oak tree and its com-

                                                              munity. The complex also offers stations for observing the

                                                              wildlife of the reeds, a playground, and a bicycle and boat
                                                              rental service. The Deseda boat service departs from here.

                                                              Kayaks, canoes, and dragon boats can be rented in the boat
                                                              house approx. 800 metres to the north of the visitor centre.
                                                              On the shore of the lake, the visitors of the water route can
                                                              moor at five spots and gain nature-related knowledge in a

                                                              playful manner. They can also charge their mobile phones


                                                              using the solar panels at the rest areas. The lake hosts the
                                                              Deseda Ultramarathon, where the runners compete indi-
                                                              vidually and in teams in distances ranging from one-third
                                                              to fi ve marathons.
