Why the
Upper Tisza
region?
More and more cyclists are discovering the magical Up-
per Tisza region. It is regularly visited by individual bikers,
cycling clubs, groups of friends on heritage tours, groups of
colleagues on team-building programs, youth groups on cy-
cling class tours, and summer camps from all over the coun-
try. Undoubtedly, the greatest experience is to explore this
close-to-nature area and the local sights and monuments
by bike. In addition to the good infrastructure, there are
several reasons why this is a great choice. On the one hand,
the settlement texture of the region is very ideal for organiz-
ing bicycle tours, since it is the only sett lement structure
with tiny villages in the Great Plain. In addition, the fl at
terrain is very attractive to many cyclists. Th e asphalted
dam crests winding along the rivers, which penetrate deep
into nature, offer an incredible experience and safety. On
the other hand, the dense network of sights also makes this
region especially attractive for cyclists. The proportion of
nature conservation areas, medieval churches, buildings of
folk architecture, castles and mansions is particularly high.
Thirdly, it is a very lovable area with its special atmosphere.
The Upper Tisza region is perfectly suited to the so-called
gentle or slow tourism. The region is an excellent choice for
those who wish to break away from the hustle and bustle of
big towns, are looking for authentic, close-to-nature regions
and rich cultural heritage, where the option for active and
high-quality recreation is also available.
