                     The Andrássy Castle of Tiszadob

The Andrássy Castle of Tiszadob is the most famous mo-
nument of the Mezőség of Nyír and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Be-
reg County, and one of the most impressive buildings of

the Hungarian historicism in architecture. The castle was
built based on the ideas of Count Gyula Andrássy Sr.
Following the completion of the renovation in 2023, the
contemporary living space and history of the Andrássy
family comes to life in the castle. In the renewed castle, the
paintings, sculptures, furniture and the household items,
all part of the family’s legacy, were returned to their origi-

nal places. The collection of art treasures in the Castle of

Tiszadob is priceless. Thanks to a modern interactive exhi-
bition, we can gain an insight into the life of the Andrássy
family. The garden of the castle, the English and French

park, designed and maintained with artistic care, has also
been renewed, and it is a great pleasure to walk there. Th e

The history of Komlódtótfalu was intertwined with the

history of the Becsky family for five hundred years. Th e

family’s classicizing late Baroque style mansion in Kom-

tury, is an outstanding monument of gentry architecture
                     in Hungary.
The mansion, with its beautifully renovated interior and

exterior, has been open to the public since August 2023.

hibition, opened within the walls of the manor, we can get
a comprehensive picture of the weekdays and the holidays
of a well-to-do gentry family that lived near the Szamos
River. In the garden of the manor, connected to the central
