Spas, beaches and

thermal baths

Békés County is a real “spa republic”, with the two most
famous venues being the Gyula Castle Bath and the Oros-
háza-Gyopáros Bath, while cosy spas and swimming pools
also await guests in Békéscsaba, Füzesgyarmat, Tótkomlós,
Gyomaendrőd, Békés, and Szarvas.

One of the most important attractions of Békés County is
the world famous Gyula Castle Bath, built in the 8.5 hect-
are nature park of the former Almásy Castle. In the four-
generation Bath, young people, children, and families enjoy
the water paradise, the Jacuzzi, and the wave pool, the beach
volleyball court, the giant and kamikaze slides, the covered
and open-air swimming pools, the sauna park, and a vari-
ety of cultural and beach programs. Next to the swimming
pools, the 35-37 degree medicinal water is excellent for lo-
comotor diseases and for the rehabilitation treatments aft er

accidents and operations. The Castello Sauna Park off ers
world-class outdoor and indoor sauna services to its visitors.
Orosháza-Gyopárosfürdő, the “pearl of the Great Plain”, is
surrounded by a lake and a forest. In addition to the medici-
nal pools, the open-air swimming and adventure pools, it
also has a wellness centre and a sauna park. Th e adventure
unit with over 6,000 square metres of water surface waits
for the visitors with indoor and outdoor water-circulation

pools, giant slides, water adventure items, a fitness room, a
conference room, a drinks bar, and a restaurant.
The county has several larger, well-built free outdoor beach-

es, such as the beach at Dánfok, next to Békés, or the free
beaches in Szanazug, at the confluence of the White Körös

and the Black Körös rivers. It is worth mentioning the fi ft h
largest lake in Hungary, the Hármas-Körös dead channel in
Bikazug, between Szarvas and Békésszentandrás.
