                                                            In Mezőkövesd - similar to Bogács - you will find a spa that
                                                            owes its existence to mineral oil exploration: in 1939, instead
                                                            of mineral oil, a 30-metre hot water column surged out of a

                                                            hole drilled on the land owned by Lajos Zsóry. The Spa can be
                                                            recognized from afar due to its characteristic sulphuric smell.
                                                            The healing effect of the water of the Zsóry Medicinal and


                                                            Open-air Spa makes it one of the most valuable natural trea-
                                                            sures of Hungary, which is absolutely unique, even in Europe.
                                                            There are three thermal pools with different temperatures, a


                                                            swimming pool, Jacuzzi, a sauna, and a medical department
                                                            is also available for visitors. Once you have enjoyed the Spa’s
                                                            services, come and see the local Matyó folk art, which, as
                                                            a Hungaricum, enhances our county’s cultural reputation.
                                                            The list of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County’s thermal waters

                                                            is not over yet: Tiszaújváros also has its medicinal water. Th e
                                                            water of the spa, with a temperature of 65 °C, which bursts to
                                                            the surface from a depth of 1,200 meters and has a relatively
                                                            high salt concentration,  resulted in the site being declared a

                                                            national medicinal spa in 2001. It is effective primarily in the
                                                            treatment of joint problems, chronic gynaecological and uro-
                                                            logical diseases, and its stress-relieving effect relaxes anyone


                                                            pleasantly after the rush of everyday life.
                                                            The treasured thermal water of Sárospatak was found through

                                                            borehole exploration in 1959. The thermal water of Végardó


                                                            Bath, with therapeutic effects and a temperature of 38 °C,
                                                            which bursts to the surface, is recommended for the treat-
                                                            ment of joint and vascular diseases. Th e fi rst whitewashed
                                                            stone pool was built thanks to the social work of the town’s
                                                            inhabitants in the early ’60s. Architect Imre Makovecz de-
                                                            signed the present appearance of the spa; the building opened
                                                            in 2009 was his last design after his more than four decades of

                                                            work in Sárospatak. Th e Thermal Spa awaits its guests with

                                                            thermal water with a healing effect and a temperature of 38 °C.
