EVERYWHERE!

Debrecen is a modern and vibrant city full of life, yet it is also a
place for relaxation. Cafés, cosy terraces, bars and dance bars
guarantee pleasant afternoons and evenings. In the evenings,
the city centre, the Piac and Csapó streets are fl ooded with
light, the Hal köz (Fish Alley) is fi lled with young people and with
those who wish to have a great time. The Great Forest also
offers many programmes. There are outdoor concerts at the
colourful Nagyerdei Water Tower all year round, while we can
have romantic moments, laugh, or even cry about a story or
a musical at the summer performances of the Nagyerdei Out-
door Stage among the trees.
The famous ensemble of the Csokonai Theatre, the town’s the-
atre of long history, is almost entwined with the city. The Ham-
let performance in the Nagyerdei Stadium provided a spe-
cial experience for its audience, and they also play a drama on
the open-air stage each year. The Deszka (Boards) Festival, or-
ganized by the theatre, offers many unique programmes, in-
teresting talk-shows and meetings, and many performances
from all parts of Hungary and beyond the borders.
Around Lake Békás, the party starts for the young and the old
from the spring, which lasts all year round. Children’s day, a
beer festival and gastronomic festival guarantee the relaxed
atmosphere. The party is continued in the water, as well. On
the terrace of the illuminated and magical Aquaticum Debrecen
Open-air Spa, we can dance among the trees’ foliage on
summer evenings or show how well we can swim by fl oating
in the glass-bottomed pool.
