Hajdú-Bihar County is extraordinarily rich in sightseeing and natural treasures. The first national park of our country was founded in its territory in 1973. Hortobágy National Park, which is the most important protected area in the country, is the biggest continuous heath in Europe. This cultural region that was formed by the nature and the humans, preserving the biological diversity was put on the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage.
The Millenium Town, everybody’s Eger
The inhabitants of Eger like living in Eger. Findings prove that this area was already an inhabited territory in the Stone Age and the weapon findings of the age of the conquest of the homeland tell about the more than a thousand year old Eger. In our town the country building intention of King Saint Stephen is tangible. We like living in Eger because the sensational victory against the ottoman army in 1552 is ours.

When on 20 December, 1784 Joseph II signed the founding charter of the Stud, with the main goal to ensure that Mezőhegyes satisfies the horse need of the Monarchy primarily from military aspects.

Visitors of Nyíregyháza can enjoy not just the pearls of the town, Sóstógyógyfürdő and have a bath in some of the medical thermal water of Sóstó Park Bath or the four baths of the town but they can see the thousands of inhabitants of Nyíregyháza Zoo or can visit to Sóstó Museum Village where they can see the folk architecture of the county’s areas. It is worth to spend time in János Tuzson Botanical Garden, the Town Gallery or the András Jósa Museum’s constant and periodic exhibitions.
