HEART OF THE CITY

While walking in the city centre, do not miss a visit to the exhibi-
tions and the Munkácsy Hall of the Déri Museum, hiding many
treasures, the exhibitions of the Modem Centre for Modern
and Contemporary Arts, and the Ferenc Medgyessy Memorial
Museum. The Magda Szabó Memorial House shows us the per-
sonality, the work and art of the Kossuth Prize-winning writer with
the help of contemporary furniture, personal belongings, pho-
tographs, quotes and TV interviews. Her books were translated
into more than 40 languages.
The Grand Library of the Reformed College of Debrecen is one
of the most beautiful libraries in the world. There is a magnifi cent
view of the main street from the tower of the Great Reformed
Church, while the colourful spectacle of the fountains encour-
ages the city’s explorers to relax. The streets and squares open-
ing to the right and left of Piac Street hide secrets and curiosities
of local history.
Your friends and followers will not only love, but also envy the
pictures taken at the coolest selfi e spots of the city! You should
take a picture with each letter of the word “Debrecen”, placed
on the square from spring to autumn, or you can take a selfi e
“with the poet himself” in the Ady Park.
